  • Positions will be filled in multiple geographic locations nation-wide. Selectees may be required to relocate as a condition of employment. Ultimate placement of the selectee will be in the best interest of the agency in order to effectively meet the goals and objectives of the agency.
    Relocation benefits will be authorized in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations.
    This position is being filled under the Federal Career Intern Program (FCIP). FCIP is used to hire entry-level professional talent into the civilian workforce and provide training and experience to develop mid and senior-level leadership within DEA. It is a two year internship program. The selectee will be placed in the Excepted Service for a period of two years with an opportunity for noncompetitive conversion to the Competitive Service upon successful completion of the program.
    This announcement may be used to fill the Diversion Investigator training class scheduled for November 2010. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies as they are identified.
    Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the mandatory Basic Diversion Investigator Training Course located in Quantico, Virginia.
    SALARY: The salary listed above is the Basic Salary and will be augmented by Locality Pay as authorized for the duty location of the position to be filled. A complete list of locality pay rates is available at www.opm.gov/oca/09tables/.

Duties:

  • Conducts inspections and investigations of handlers of controlled pharmaceuticals and chemicals to ensure compliance, detect violations, and pursue appropriate administrative/civil/judicial action to prevent and eliminate drug diversion under the provisions of the various drug-related laws and regulations.
  • Performs work related to developing and maintaining relationships in various levels of government, private industry, and federal, state, and local agencies/organizations to communicate and disseminate information about agency law enforcement, regulatory compliance, and/or enforcement mission areas and activities.
