  • The work requires some physical exertion such as lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and regular and recurring walking, bending, or climbing ladders or towers up to 400 feet to install equipment. Must successfully complete the Forest Service tower certification program within six months of hire and continually re-certify thereafter. Position is required to support All Risk incidents.

    The posted salary is based on RUS (Rest of US) Salary Table. Salary may be different based on location of final selection.

Duties:

  • Provides support and assistance in maintaining, servicing, modifying, developing, installing and testing VHF/UHF radio communication systems used in the field, and other related telecommunications electronic, electrical systems.
  • Prepares engineering test items, adjusts and operates engineering test equipment, and records readings/results of test data. Participates in a variety of activities aimed at the installation, repair, maintenance, and/or modification of electronic systems or equipment, including test equipment.
  • May act as contracting officers technical representative (COTR) in performing analytic and evaluative duties in connection with the planning, scheduling, acquisition, installation, integration, modification, and testing of telecommunications systems equipment and commercial services.

    Identifies and analyzes telecommunications system requirements. Analyzes requirements for user communication needs. Plans, schedules, acquires, implements, installs, modifies, and tests both voice and data telecommunication lines as well as associated equipment and services.
